Welcome to the logical center in American politics!

I've found myself spending many hours, fact checking articles sent to me by friends on both the Right and the Left, analyzing their comments and arguments, posing a different opinion for them to think about.  But all of that has either been in Facebook posts or private emails.  I've decided that it's time to "go public" and share my thoughts with anyone willing to take the time to come here and read.

One thing I will promise:  I will always try to make certain that on anything I post, I apply what is generally referred to as "traditional journalistic values".  That is, I'll try to fact check the information, and I'll try to vet the sources.  Far too many times, it's easy for those who have strongly defined political views to just go to the ol' familiar websites and blogs for info and to believe what's written there.  I mean, it's on the Web, so it's GOT to be true, right? :>)  If you're on the Right, you go to Fox News, the Drudge Report, any Breitbart website, WorldNetDaily, and others.  If you're on the Left, you go to the Huffington Post,  Daily Kos, MSNBC, etc.  So many of us keep ourselves in the "echo chamber" that the Internet has become for political belief:  you hear our own thoughts repeated back to you by others, and therefore believe that most people think the way that you do, and that you're in the "majority".  That is just SO wrong.

Here's my promise:  I will take the time to find the direct sources of the information I post, and I'll try my best to be logical, thorough, and reasonable.  I'll try to keep my emotions out of it, though I must admit that I have very little patience for fools, and I have NO patience for mendacity.

Oh, and a quick shoutout to the people at the Nolan Chart and to acknowledge that my logo is based around the result of taking their brief quiz.  A survey of only 10 questions (with only 4 answers to each) can never be completely thorough, and many times, you just have to pick the closest answer, whether it's truly correct or not.  That said, a Far Right Wing FB "friend" suggested that I was a Progressive and "argued like a Liberal", and told me to take the Nolan survey.  Well, just as I'd always thought, it put me smack in the exact center!  And humorously enough, that Far Right "friend" said "Well, it must be broken then!"  :>)  We simply want to believe what we believe, and don't want to open up our minds.
